We’re proud to say we haven’t raised our rates in over three years, despite rising costs. We do our best to keep our pricing aligned with or lower than other mobile “Geek-style” IT services, while offering something they often cannot provide. Our team delivers deep expertise and consistent service you can rely on.

Along with our Affordable IT Labour Rates, our consultants bring over 30 years of real-world IT experience, from business management to hands-on technical problem solving. Residential IT Support | Home Mobile Tech Support

🏠 Residential Rates

We provide expert, in-home IT support at a fair and competitive rate, with no hidden costs or confusing terms.

For onsite visits to your home, we charge:

  • $29 travel fee, plus

  • $160 per hour (billed at $40 per 15 minutes after the first hour)

This means the first hour costs $189 total, and any time beyond that is billed in 15-minute increments so you only pay for what you need.

Our experienced technicians are friendly, professional, and ready to help with everything from device setup and Wi-Fi issues to troubleshooting and smart home support.

Remote support is also available and does not include the travel fee, making it a great option for quick fixes and virtual help.

onsite Business IT Support and Consulting

We offer professional onsite IT consulting for businesses across the Greater Wellington Region, designed to keep your systems running smoothly and securely.

For onsite business support, our rates are:

  • $29 travel fee, plus

  • $170 per hour (billed at $42.50 per 15 minutes after the first hour)

This means the first hour costs $199 total, with any additional time billed in 15-minute increments, keeping your costs fair and predictable.

We truly value our senior customers and proudly offer a special discounted rate for SuperGold Cardholders.

For in-home support, our rates are:

  • $29 travel fee, plus

  • $148 per hour (billed at $37 per 15 minutes after the first hour)

This means the first hour costs $179 total, with any additional time billed in 15-minute increments, so you’re only paying for the time you need.

Remote IT Support | Remote Assistance

🖥️ Remote Support Rates

Our remote support offers the same great service at the same hourly rates as our onsite visits, tailored to suit your needs. More affordable as there is no travel fee!

When a technician is available in-office, we may offer a reduced minimum fee for sessions under 15 minutes, making it an ideal option for quick, easy-to-resolve issues without the cost of a call-out.

It’s a fast and cost-effective way to get help with troubleshooting, software issues, updates, or general IT advice. All of this is delivered conveniently without leaving your home or office.

🚗 Onsite Callouts & Remote Consulting

We know your time is valuable, and we do our best to keep our pricing fair, especially for quick jobs.

For onsite visits that take less than 15 minutes, we charge a flat call-out fee of $149. This covers the technician’s time on-site as well as the travel required to get to you. While we wish we could make it even lower, travel time is still time we set aside just for your job.

For remote assistance sessions under 15 minutes, we offer a discounted minimum service fee of $119. If the session goes over 15 minutes, the standard full hourly rate applies.

This reduced-rate service is available to all our clients, including residential customers, businesses, SuperGold Cardholders, charities, and not-for-profits. It’s a great way to get fast, affordable help when the issue is small and easily solved.

💼 Our Time, Billing and Service Structure

At IT NEAR U, we’re IT consultants, not tradespeople charging flat fees. Our pricing is based on actual time spent helping you, whether on-site, remotely, or working on a specific project.

We aim to keep things simple, fair, and transparent.

  • We charge for time spent. You are paying for expertise and time, not guaranteed outcomes
  • We provide solutions and recommendations, but the decision to proceed is always yours
  • We charge for the actual time worked, not padded fees or vague estimates
  • Some issues may require hardware upgrades or workflow changes, which we’ll always discuss with you beforehand

 

🕒 How Time is Billed

If a call-out lasts 15 minutes or more, we bill a Travel Fee PLUS a minimum of one hour. After the first hour, any additional time is billed in 15-minute increments, so you only pay for the time we actually spend helping you.

For quick call-outs under 15 minutes, we offer a flat rate of $149, with no travel fee.

🚗 Why We Charge a $29 Travel, Fuel and Wear Fee

We charge a modest $29 fee to help cover:

  • Travel time
  • Fuel
  • Wear and tear on our vehicles
  • Administrative, Scheduling and logistics costs

Rather than burying this cost in higher hourly rates (as some larger “Geek-style” mobile support companies often do), we prefer to keep it transparent. This $29 fee is included in your first-hour billing.

📅 Business Service Agreements & Retainers

We take a flexible, relationship-based approach to ongoing IT support. Instead of using rigid, corporate-style contracts, we offer what we call Preventative Maintenance Service Agreements.

These are month-to-month arrangements created specifically for our regular business clients. Benefits include:

  • Faster response times when you need support

  • Reduced hourly rates

  • Scheduled routine visits to help prevent issues before they occur

  • Other service-related discounts

We only offer these agreements once we have become familiar with your IT systems and business needs. This ensures the agreement is tailored, practical, and beneficial. There are no lock-ins, no long-term commitments, and no unnecessary complexity. Just consistent, proactive IT support you can rely on.

🔧 General Labour Charges

  • FIRST HOUR Call-Out Fee (15 minutes or more) : $29 Travel Fee PLUS one hour at applicable customer type.
    (Residential, Business, SuperGold, Not-For-Profit Company – eg. Bridge Clubs, etc.) thereafter billed in increments of 15 minutes.

  • Minimum Call-out – Quick Call-Outs (under 15 minutes): Flat rate of $149 (includes everything – no travel fee)

🏠 Residential & Community

  • Home IT Support: $160 / hour

  • Not-for-Profit & Community Groups: $160 / hour

  • SuperGold Cardholders: Discounted rate of $148 / hour

🏢 Business IT Consulting Services

  • Business Consulting: $170 / hour

🤝 IT Sub-Contracting

  • Partner Rates: Negotiable

  • SLAs available for approved partners

🧾 Administrative and Miscellaneous Fees

  • Minor Admin Tasks (e.g. minor tasks – no tech needed): $30

  • Quick Tech-Required Admin Tasks (e.g. license activation, ): $50

  • Cancellations without 8 hours’ notice: $119 flat fee

🌙 After-Hours and Weekend Surcharges

  • After 6pm or Saturdays: 50% surcharge on labour

  • Sundays and Public Holidays: 100% surcharge (double time)

🧰 Offsite Office Work

In some cases, we may take your device or equipment offsite. This allows us to:

  • Complete the work more efficiently

  • Avoid on-site waiting time

  • Only bill for the actual work performed

This helps keep your overall cost lower.

💳 Payment Terms

We aim to make payment easy and straightforward:

  • Residential and new business clients: Pay at the end of the call-out

  • Ongoing business clients: Pre-arranged terms available

  • Mobile EFTPOS terminals are carried by our consultants for easy payment

  • Bank transfer accepted

  • Credit card payments incur a 2.5% surcharge

  • All prices include 15% GST

  • ❌ We do not accept cheques

🕘 Standard Operating Hours

Our normal hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, excluding public holidays. During these hours, you’ll always get prompt, reliable service at our standard rates.

🧑‍💻 Consistent, Experienced Consultants

Unlike many national mobile IT providers, we don’t send a different technician every time. We have very low staff turnover, so you’ll generally be looked after by the same consultant who understands your setup.

More importantly, our people are IT consultants, not just tech support staff with limited experience. We focus on long-term relationships, expert advice, and continuity.

🤝 Business Service Level Agreements (SLAs)

Our service agreements are different from typical contracts. We prefer to call them Preventative Maintenance Service Agreements, because they focus on keeping your systems running smoothly, not just responding when something breaks.

  • Month-to-month agreements only

  • Tailored for regular clients after we know your systems

  • Includes scheduled visits and preferential response times

  • May include reduced hourly rates and other benefits

We keep it flexible, practical, and focused on long-term performance.

🆓 Free First-Time Business Consultation

If you are a new business client, we offer a complimentary one-hour consultation. This is a planning and strategy session where we:

  • Learn about your IT environment

  • Document systems and users

  • Identify areas of improvement

  • Recommend a long-term approach

Please note, this session does not include on-the-spot fixes or call-out tech work, which is billed separately. This is an assessment, discovery consultation session.
